Over the clouds

I'm back from my training flight. The weather was not that great, it was really grey and foggy, but we found a little blue hole in the clouds and could climb on top. Wow, so fantastic, perfectly blue sky, and visibility without limits. It was a nice flight, and the landings were ok, the last one was bumpy though :P

One scary thing happened though: as it was very cold, I couldn't feel my fingers anymore, and when checking the oil tank, I didn't closed it properly, so in an hour we lost all the oil... one hour more and we would have been short of oil, wich leads to engine failure :S Lucky me! It was oil all over the plane, and I had to clean it, now I can just slip in my jacket, it's totally lubrificated :D I'll check it twice next time. It was also very cold, -5°c in the cockpit!!! I have some financial issues, so I had to fly a very cheap plane, a Piper L4 from 1944, it's a bit like a bicycle of the air compared to what I was used to fly... but it's one of my favourite planes.

Yesterday went fine with the Turkish family. Everything went fine, and Yasmin's mother was so astonished, she kept saying I was as perfect as a girl :D after that she started to try to arrange a marriage with one of her nieces... I said I was deeply sorry but that I could find one myself. She couldn't stop to pinch my cheeks and kiss me, it was a bit embarassing after a moment... my cheeks were red at the end of the meal!

I go to have meal before the rest of the programm. Tommorow evening we are invited by my mother's boyfriend in one of the best restaurants of the town. He let us the choice (with my sister) to go to his place or to this restaurant, we said the restaurant of course :) it's not everyday that we are invited in such places!

See you and have a nice weekend!

Busy

Wow, so many things to do from tomorrow till sunday... Tomorrow, the day starts at 8am with the cleaning of my flat. I invited Yasmin's family to come over for a meal on the evening. We'll be four people, Yasmin, her mother, and her sister. Everything must be perfect, I have a reputation ;) At noon I will maybe eat with my grand-mother, not sure yet. At 3pm I have an appointment for a job: I will have to look after 20 kids in a classroom and keep them working and quiet. I have no idea of how to make this thing work, as I am not sure to have enough authority to lead 20 kids that are 13-14 years old... It's a try, if it doesn't work I will not be hired :S

At 7pm dinner must be ready, and the menu is not totally decided. I'll have to go and see what I can get tomorrow morning. I already know it will include some chicken legs with an orange and honey sauce, and a chocolate cake. Her mother was so surprised, it's the first time that she hear anything about a man that cook, of course, in Turkey it's not really usual I guess.

Friday morning, I must be at work, they need me for a few hours left, and then I will just have time to eat something, take a bus to the airport, and jump in my plane for a training flight. Take off at 13:30 direction Saanen-Gstaad. It's a small airport in a montainous area. Gstaad is one of these villages for rich people. Johnny Hallyday (famous french singer) is living there, as well as Ernesto Bertarelli (America's Cup challenger), among others... It's a beautiful region. Here are some pics:

The second pic is a pic I took during a flight last summer. As you can see, it's definitely the place where nobody would build an airport. There are mountains at both ends of the runway. This was a military airport untill a few years ago, and as many of them, the army decided to build them in crazy location so that only swiss well-trained pilots would be able to operate jets there. Imagine how it was to land a fighter jet at high speed on this little runway... Crazy people!

And at my return, I will eat with a friend and go out with others to celebrate the end of the exams. I will have Saturday morning to have a rest before other appointments... pfff... Who said that being in vacation was relaxing? :D

Disappointment

I was expecting it a bit... Stan didn't show up and prefered to have his birthday dinner with his girlfriend... bitch... lol. He said he would tell me when he would come, and finally called to say he will be away, at his girlfriends, for one week. I guess I can put the bottle of wine in the cellar again, because he get some work in another town for a few weeks :/

I didn't know what to do during the weekend, as the only thing I had planned was to cook. Instead, I went to drink with some friends. I did quit the bar around 1 am, and then came back home with Yasmin to have pizza, she went home around 4 am. I slept all the day, and only woke up to buy a chicken, and invited Ulrika to eat at my place before going go see a play (I had got some free tickets). The play was crap, and after this long hour and a half listening to bad actors reciting like schoolboys, we went to have a drink. We met a guy that is flirting with her and I didn't understood anything but it was a lot of tension in the air...

She was awkwardly speaking with him, as a group of four women in their late 50ies came out of nowhere and sat at the table behind. I head a horrible voice that I recognized immediatly: the best friend of my mother. Another child psychologist, that was used to lock her children in the cellar without light, and imitating rat noises to scare them to death. I don't know what's wrong with this class of psychology, but both my mother and her learned some strange things... At least my mother never mistreated me in such ways! I have a certain contempt for these desperate women, that fucked their lives and blame only men for that, especially their husband in general... I told Ulrika we had to escape before she would recognize me. I really hate this woman, she's pure evil... We did, and ended up playing cards at my place.

I quit the work tomorrow, they don't need me anymore. I planned to go to the fitness, and also took an appointment with my instructor for a training flight, I hope that I will remember how to fly a plane! It's been 4 month that I haven't been flying. Bah, some bumpy landings, and it will come back :)

Gift

It's Stan's birthday next week, and I'm not sure what to offer him. I forgot his birthday last year, because I changed my mobile phone, and all the data were lost (among others, birthday reminder), and I have a very bad memory. He called me last year, on his birthday, and I could hear that he was waiting something from me but didn't know what it was, and it's only a few days after that I saw all the messages on his wall on facebook. I was really annoyed, but we forgot that with a good bottle of Bordeaux. But this year I remembered without even looking at my mobile phone, and I want to give him something really nice. I have a few ideas, but all of them are rather expensive... It has to be related with aviation, because he's mad about planes, as I am. A few years ago, I offered him a wooden propeller, to put on his wall, and he keeps speaking of that, so I want to see the same look on his face this year, as the one he had when he opened the giant package of the propeller. I can't afford to pay the rest of the plane, (yet :D) so I have to find something else.

I thought about a book about the Concorde, the most beautiful aircraft of all time. I checked at the bookshop, and I would have to order it, it wont be here before Friday, so it's not the best thing. I have an autograph of Charles Lindbergh (the first man to have crossed the atlantic New-York - Paris nonstop by plane in 1927) but I want to keep it for myself :). He wants my Breitling watch (I got it from my family for my 18th birthday, the best gift ever for a pilot!) but I need it, and I don't have 4000 $ to spend... So, I think the best idea I found would be to buy a pair of ray ban aviator sunglasses. He loves it, and bought a crapy copy for 15$, but it's not the same... I have some, and he's a bit jealous, he keeps stealing them from me, and taking pictures of him with them on. (I never saw someone taking so many pictures of himself by the way... :) I think if I find a pair for him, he would cry of happiness, and this would make me so happy! I ate a lot of pasta these last weeks, and I saved a bit of money, so I think I can afford it.

But why do I like Stan so much? mmm... first of all, he's the hottest guy on earth. The minute I saw him, the world changed for me. He has a hot swimmer body, beautiful face, tanned all the year long, brown eyes, a smile to die for... but not only that. We became friends after I took him for a ride with the plane, and since this first flight, 4 year ago, we became the best friends ever. He's really so nice, we can understand each other really well, we had more a less the same history with our parents, with our childhood, studies, etc. He seems really self-confident and careless at first, but he's really sensitive and full of doubts in reality. I helped him a lot when he had hard times, and he did the same with me. I also have a crush for him, and have had since we met, and I can't help hoping that he would "turn" gay, but it's hopeless... But I'm already so glad to have him as best friend.

First day of work

I started to work today. I already went to the office yesterday to get some instructions. I was supposed to start on Monday but the secretary was ill, so she couldn't show me how to do my work. It's a rather boring job, I must scan some fomularies for an investigation about the quality of the public hospital. I must scan a bit more than 20'000 pages, so I will have work for the whole month at least.

I left Basel on Saturday in the afternoon. I went to say my goodbye to the landlady, and she invited me to have a drink. We talked for an hour, and then I took my things and went. I get a present, and as she was giving it to me she started to cry gently.I asked if everything was allright, and she huged me, and said "yes, but you know, it was really so nice to have you here... anytime you come back, just come and say hi, ok?" I thought it was a bit weird, considering that we were talking sometimes, but nothing beyond polite conversation between two people that live in the same house. At least I know where to sleep if I have a problem in Basel one time :)

Last weekend I had my friends at home for a party. It was fun, but all my guy friends couldn't come except one, and it was only girls. I don't mind that much, but it's always better when you have a balance between the two groups. The day after I had my family here, and my mother introduced her boyfriend of three years to the rest of the family. It was also nice to have them at home. And now my cellar is full of very good wine bottles :P I already reserved the best one for Stan an me for next week. I have to find what to eat with it now.

Erik finally answered saying "In retrospect, good you didn't stay overnight, I have flu, feeling bad." I didn't know what to answer, so I just wrote "get well" and that's all.

Yasmin was here a moment ago, and she keeps asking why nothing happened with her friend that visited me in Basel. I kept saying no to all the answers she was making for me, and she said I should tell her, because I can trust her, and that she considers me as a brother now etc. I wanted to come out to her, because she's always coming at home, and we are always together at the uni, so one time or another she will know, and it's better if it's not a surprise... but she was talking about a bar she went before coming here, and said "well, it's nice but full of fags, and I think it's so bad, when you see such handsome boys that are gay, such a waste! and I know how they are, all they want is just to have one night sex, they have no idea of what love is, it disgust me... etc." it cut my will to tell her. I don't know if she could understand. Sometimes she doesn't seem to care, but sometimes she can say some very strong things against gays. The thing that is really annoying is that she keeps trying to find a girl for me, and try to hook me up with some, and then I'm face to face with the girl and don't know how to get rid of her. It can't go on this way.

So, enough for tonight, I have to be able to wake up early tomorrow.

Last night in Basel!

Hey hey! today the "barathon" begun, a bit early :) I finished my exam much earlier, as it really went bad... :S but I was thinking "no matter, it's finished after that!" I gave my sheet (or shit?) back, and went to have some beers with a friend to celebrate the end of this exams! It was around 10 am. I shortly went back to the flat, said bye to Tyler (he was going to Paris) and then took a shower and went to see a friend of mine that lives here before going.

I came back here afterwards, and prepared to go to Zürich, made my hair, changed my clothes, dressed in a Ralph Lauren white outfit and nice jeans that makes me look fit, and took the train. I went to eat at a good friend that is staying in Zürich for one year. I really like him, he's well nice, funny, like aircraft, and is just cool. I brought him a bottle of wine, some special biscuits from Basel (Läckerli for those who knows it, Xico maybe? :) and we had a nice meal that he prepared. It was really cool, we laughed a lot, had a nice time and meal, and then we went to town to have a beer in an irish pub.

In between I called Erik, and told him where we were going, and he joined us around 11pm. This bar was really loud, and I hate that, because you can't speak to each other, you're just basically making signs, laugh even if you don't understand anything, and well, you know how it is. Erik arrived, he joined us, and it was a bit awkward, because he was speaking with me in english, and I was speaking to my friend in french, and we couldn't understand each other. I was hoping my friend would leave us after a while, so we could be alone with Erik, but he was a bit drunk (as I still am...) and he just stayed. After a while, I said I had to take a train back to Basel, and hoped Erik would come with me while the friend would leave, but both came with me untill the station. The friend took another tram at the station, and Erik came with me to the train. I asked how he was, and he said "well, what do you mean, personnaly, or workwise?" I said "you fool, you know, I'm not really interested about your work, but about how YOU are doing" and he said "well, you know, it's basically just going, life is not that easy" and well, we arrived to the train, and we had basically not spoken to each other, and I said "so, I'm taking the train. You're going home I guess?" and even if I said we would meet without expectations, I was so much hoping he would say "come and have a drink" or "stay with me" or whatever, I so much wanted to stay with him, because I can't help, I really like him a lot, but nothing of that, he took me in his arms, huged my firmly for a moment, and said "yes, it's better I think" and just left without looking back.

I went into the train, took a seat alone in the wagon, and started to feel some tears coming out. I never cry, almost never, but here, on the train, looking at him going home without even looking back for a single time, couldn't help crying. Shit, I meet a guy that is exactly what I waited for, and he goes away...

I wrote a text and said that I was sorry we had no time to speak to each other, alone, and that we could meet another weekend just both of us, alone, but he didn't answer. So... I think I have to take that punch in my face and just understand that it's really over, but I don't want to... Of course they are other guys, but all the other I know are flamming gays that live to go to clubs and have sex in the bathrooms, and they all know each other and fucked each other and I don't want to be part of that. I just want somebody nice and interesting with whom I can have a real relationship, and share some things together.

Stan also called when I was in the bar, and told me he wouldn't come tomorrow (well, today in fact) and I was well disapointed, I would really need him to be around. But he has a lot of very important exams to do, and he said we would meet next week when it will be over. Maybe it's better after all, so we can have a talk together, just both of us.

Well, it's winter, I feel bad, it's normal... let's have a good night of sleep and tomorrow is another day! I will have this party at home, it will be fun, and I will get drunk, good program! And above everything, I leave Basel, the city of big troubles! Haha, I'm so happy :)

Last but not least

I have my last exam tomorrow, so I'm back in Basel. It's about European law, and I can tell you that it is damn complicated :S It's my first written exam in german, and I don't know how it will be. We will have three questions and 2.5 hours to answer, far too much for what I will have to say.

I came here yesterday around 11pm. I open the door, the first thing I see is my mail that still is delivered here, although it should be delivered at home as I clearly specified, but it seems that they don't understand me, and on the top, a paper (I was thinking maybe it is some wishes for the new year as I left in the mailbox of the landlady before going) on wich was written "please pay tommorow". How charming and welcoming! I go to the kitchen to make a cup of tea: disaster, my roomates are back and it's a mess. I don't care, I wont do anything and eat at restaurants, I can offer that to myself :) But I notice there are no matches anymore to light on the gas. I go to the toilet and notice that there is no more toilet paper (aha, at least I didn't need some, it's always a bad surprise!).

But! I'm a little squirrel, and I don't know if I should say clever or egoistical, but, as I knew all of that would happen, as during the few month I have been living here, it was always me that was buying those things, I made a little personnal reserve of matches and toilet paper, among other things that I had hidden before leaving. I was so happy to find them back, always at the same place, like the squirrel during the winter.

When you are living with a few people, in theory, you have the saim aim, and therefore act for the community interests, it's you give you get, but after the army, I understood that it's like that on the paper, but no matter how nice the people seems to be, it's never the case. If you give, you're always welcome, but don't expect to get something back. So, after three month of cleaning, buying, supplying our little house community, it comes to an end, and now they will see how much they will miss me. I shared my bread and wine, my shaving foam, my shampoo, my milk, my cleaning talents etc. now it's over, and it's good (for me) :)

I'm going to do this exam tomorrow, and then I'll go to celebrate in Zürich, where I have a few friends. I will also see Erik "without expectations" as we agreed in our last mail, and then I'll come back at home on saturday, and have a party with my friends. I'm looking forward! I hope Stan will come, he said he has a lot to do, but I hope he can afford to have a drink with me!

Yesterday, Yasmin came at my place so say hi, and she brought food from her mother. Her mother came from Turkey for a few month, and I met her two times, and now she calls me "my son" :) I think she wants me to marry one of her daughters, so if you don't hear from me for more than two weeks, please call my embassy in Turkey and say I have been kidnapped :)

Cross your fingers for me tomorrow! 8 am UTC time
