Gift

It's Stan's birthday next week, and I'm not sure what to offer him. I forgot his birthday last year, because I changed my mobile phone, and all the data were lost (among others, birthday reminder), and I have a very bad memory. He called me last year, on his birthday, and I could hear that he was waiting something from me but didn't know what it was, and it's only a few days after that I saw all the messages on his wall on facebook. I was really annoyed, but we forgot that with a good bottle of Bordeaux. But this year I remembered without even looking at my mobile phone, and I want to give him something really nice. I have a few ideas, but all of them are rather expensive... It has to be related with aviation, because he's mad about planes, as I am. A few years ago, I offered him a wooden propeller, to put on his wall, and he keeps speaking of that, so I want to see the same look on his face this year, as the one he had when he opened the giant package of the propeller. I can't afford to pay the rest of the plane, (yet :D) so I have to find something else.

I thought about a book about the Concorde, the most beautiful aircraft of all time. I checked at the bookshop, and I would have to order it, it wont be here before Friday, so it's not the best thing. I have an autograph of Charles Lindbergh (the first man to have crossed the atlantic New-York - Paris nonstop by plane in 1927) but I want to keep it for myself :). He wants my Breitling watch (I got it from my family for my 18th birthday, the best gift ever for a pilot!) but I need it, and I don't have 4000 $ to spend... So, I think the best idea I found would be to buy a pair of ray ban aviator sunglasses. He loves it, and bought a crapy copy for 15$, but it's not the same... I have some, and he's a bit jealous, he keeps stealing them from me, and taking pictures of him with them on. (I never saw someone taking so many pictures of himself by the way... :) I think if I find a pair for him, he would cry of happiness, and this would make me so happy! I ate a lot of pasta these last weeks, and I saved a bit of money, so I think I can afford it.

But why do I like Stan so much? mmm... first of all, he's the hottest guy on earth. The minute I saw him, the world changed for me. He has a hot swimmer body, beautiful face, tanned all the year long, brown eyes, a smile to die for... but not only that. We became friends after I took him for a ride with the plane, and since this first flight, 4 year ago, we became the best friends ever. He's really so nice, we can understand each other really well, we had more a less the same history with our parents, with our childhood, studies, etc. He seems really self-confident and careless at first, but he's really sensitive and full of doubts in reality. I helped him a lot when he had hard times, and he did the same with me. I also have a crush for him, and have had since we met, and I can't help hoping that he would "turn" gay, but it's hopeless... But I'm already so glad to have him as best friend.

That sounds like a great gift for your friend Stan. :) It's always good to have a really close friend, even if you don't see each other all the time.

I had a pair of Ray Bans...I don't know where they went, though. They were bloody expensive! He better be grateful! :P

The Ray Bans sound like a good idea.

We have a family story of someone (don't know who) years ago who was trying to come up with a gift idea. Someone else said, "How about a book?" and the first person answered, "He has a book."

James — You should follow your housemates at a discreet distance on sunny days until you see who puts on the Ray Bans when he gets out of sight of the house.
