Promenade in Bourgogne

So much to do, so little time, this is my holiday :) I'm flying to France on Thursday with "my" Cessna from 1948. I will attend an oldtimer meeting in a place about 1 hour from here. It's in the middle of nowhere, and I'll be alone on board, I hope that I will manage to find the airfield. It's a grass runway, wich makes it hard to see from the sky among other fields. I haven't been abroad with a little plane for 2 years, and I don't remember how it works for all the administrative things... :S it's not complicated, but there is a lot to do and you have to do it right or you'll get into trouble rather quickly. I'll call the custom office in Paris tonight, and I've got to prepare my complete flightplan for tommorow. I went to buy the maps today.

I'm going to work tommorow, but I hope that I will be able to escape quickly, for I have to pack for my little trip. I'll be sleeping in a tent, and I can't find it in my mess. I went to seek upstairs in the attic, amongst so many other things and all I could find was my assault riffle, wich reminded me that I forgot to go for the mandatory shooting (you have to go once a year in Switzerland, and by the way, you also MUST have an assault riffle with ammunition at home... how stupid is that? Even in the USA you don't have to!) I hope that I wont get a fine for that :/

Anyways, have a nice weekend, and see you! I'll post some pictures when I'll be back!

You MUST have an assault riffle with ammo at home? That's . . . an odd law. Why is that so?

Good luck and have fun on your holiday! :D

It is so because it is mandatory to join the army. I did and until you are around 35 you are still a reservist, and therefore could be asked to combat in the event of a war... hum, considering that we are in the middle of the peaceful europe... who will attack first? :) It is some remainings of WWII and the cold war...
